JOB DESCRIPTION

Crowdwave Campaigns is seeking an experienced data and technology contractor for a 5–7 week term. We’re open to a primary or a focused engagement depending on your availability.

About us

Crowdwave runs large-scale paid phone programs for national progressive organizations and campaigns — millions of calls this cycle for multiple clients running complex programs around the country. We also help organizations plan and execute volunteer-powered phonebanking operations.

The role

We’re looking for someone who can take data, analytics, and reporting off our plates. We have existing data and reporting systems set up, and you would take over managing those, improving them, and being the point of contact for our clients' data staff.

The most important qualities we’re looking for in this role are:

  • Someone who can be a force multiplier, not an individual contributor. You work fluently with AI and automation and would rather build a good system once than do the same work manually week after week.

  • Deep electoral data knowledge (particularly related to field organizing and phonebanking) and good judgment. You can separate the signal from the noise to help our clients get more value from their phonebanking programs. We have reams of call outcomes and transcripts, and you would be excited to turn them into actionable insights for our clients.

  • A hard worker who is flexible, resourceful, independent, and can juggle multiple competing responsibilities and projects. We are a small and collaborative team, and you will need to be able to operate with a lot of self-direction to accomplish tasks and achieve results.

Primary responsibilities

  • Automations and systems. Find the work that's still being done by hand and build the thing that does it instead.

  • Client reporting. Responsible for the delivery and integrity of reports across all of our clients and their target campaigns.

  • Analytics. Funnel performance, contact rates, script efficacy, where voters drop off, which universes are underperforming, and call insights from our huge dataset of call transcripts. Both producing regular reporting and being the point person to manage client questions.

  • Exports and integrations. Run and validate client exports, and own the API sync work into VAN/EveryAction, Parsons, Redshift, and S3, including scoping with client engineers and confirming that what landed matches what we sent.

  • Client data conversations and requests. Being the data point person for all questions about data definitions, syncs, reporting, etc.

  • Caller QA. Take over running our internal scorecard system for callers.

  • Troubleshooting. When a number raises a question, you chase down the answer — through the data, the dispositions, the dialer behavior — and either fix it or hand over a diagnosis clean enough to act on.

  • Dashboards and reporting views. Build reporting dashboards for our team and for different client stakeholders to see what their programs are actually doing.

Other responsibilities may include

  • Documentation, support materials, and client support. Guides, reference materials, and direct support for the people using our client reporting systems.

  • Dialer campaign setup and management. Some work setting up and managing dialer campaigns for our programs — correctly managing lists, scripts, pacing, and advanced configurations.

Require experience

  • At least 2+ cycles of experience working with data at a political campaign, independent expenditure, party committee, c3/c4, advocacy organization, or a Democratic data vendor or consultancy

  • Working knowledge of voter files, universes, and targeting, and of the data-sharing and compliance rules that govern voter data

  • Experience with VAN/EveryAction, including canvass results, survey questions, activist codes, and bulk upload

  • Familiarity with phone and text outreach operations, including dialers, contact rates, dispositions, call quality, and caller performance

  • Understanding of what field, data, and fundraising staff each need from a data vendor

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python sufficient to interrogate a data model, read a query, and recognize when a result is wrong

  • Experience designing and building multi-step automated workflows using LLMs or AI agents, including the evals and checks that validate their output

  • Experience using AI coding tools to produce production work, including reviewing and correcting generated output

  • Working knowledge of Git and the ability to navigate an unfamiliar codebase

  • Experience scoping, implementing, and validating API integrations, including authentication, asynchronous jobs, and data warehouses

  • Experience defining and documenting data definitions and metrics

  • Experience building reports and dashboards for non-technical users

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Commitment to progressive and Democratic causes

Helpful but not required

  • Software development proficiency of any kind, or a good eye for product design and user experience

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)

Terms

  • 5–7 week engagement, starting immediately

  • Primary engagement — we're your main client for the term, and you own the areas above end to end. $6,000–$12,000/month, depending on experience.

  • Focused engagement — roughly halftime; we agree on a defined scope of work. $4,000–$6,500/month, depending on experience.

  • Monthly retainer, invoiced monthly, 1099

  • Fully remote

  • Deadlines are frequently same-day and land at unpredictable times, including evenings and weekends through Election Day.

  • For the right person, this may turn into ongoing work after the cycle.
