The Maryland Democratic Party is seeking an experienced Data Director to oversee our data & analytics department.
As the Data Director, you will ensure our organizing program is data-informed. You will oversee our organizing program’s targeting, reporting, tracking, and other program-specific data needs.
This position is based in Largo, Maryland, and reports directly to the Coordinated Director.
Responsibilities:
Hire, train, and manage a team of data professionals to support all lanes of coordinated campaign outreach;
Work with state and national stakeholders to build voter contact and volunteer recruitment universes;
Collaborate across departments to design and build reports that track the campaign’s programs and offer clarity and insight into the health of the organization;
Develop, maintain, and implement data standards to ensure accurate tracking and analysis of coordinated programs;
Oversee and support the administration of coordinated VAN committee and voter tools;
Collaborate with departments to develop and execute training for staff;
Build and implement systems for ongoing staff support;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
At least two cycles of campaign experience as a member of a Data and Analytics team, or equivalent political experience in a technical role;
Strong commitment to Democratic values and enthusiasm for electing Angela Alsobrooks and Democrats up and down the ballot;
Proficient in SQL and comfortable wrangling and analyzing large datasets;
A technical skill set that includes proficiency in a variety of programming languages/software such as (but not limited to) MS Excel, Google Suite, Tableau, Google Data Studio (Looker Studio), Javascript, Python, R and QGIS;
A track record of prioritizing projects with the ability to be both self-directed and to delegate tasks to others;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
Experience using VAN | Votebuilder at an administrative level;
You are goal-oriented and self-disciplined; able to meet tight deadlines and multitask;
You thrive in fast-paced ever-changing environments and eat new priorities for breakfast;
A creative mindset and an eagerness to try new things;
Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends;
You have access to reliable transportation and are willing to travel frequently.
