JOB DESCRIPTION
Lily Franklin for Delegate is seeking a Deputy Campaign Manager in Virginia's battleground 41st House District. In 2023, Lily came within 183 votes of flipping this pivotal seat. HD-41 is highly competitive and is targeted by the Virginia House Democratic Caucus for the 2025 General Election.
The Deputy Campaign Manager must be dedicated to building a deeper Blue bench in rural communities, fighting for marginalized voices, and uplifting women running for office. The Deputy Campaign Manager will report directly to the campaign manager and will be responsible for overseeing field operations and communications as needed. On the field side, this includes executing the campaign’s voter contact strategy, managing and maintaining excellent relationships with partners, staff, and volunteers, and GOTV operations.
The salary for this position is $5,000 per month with an additional healthcare stipend. This position is based in Blacksburg and will require travel and a willingness to work on weekends and non-traditional hours as needed. Candidates must have a vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As Deputy Campaign Manager, you will be responsible for:
Overseeing execution of our voter contact and communications strategy
Providing detailed reports to the team and managing operations trackers
On the field side, this may include:
Recruiting and managing volunteers to mobilize voters
Building volunteer and direct-voter-contact events
Training and managing organizers
On the communications side, this may include:
Developing and managing relationships with the press
Drafting press releases and public-facing communications
Creating content and managing communication on social media
Executing other tasks as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
Prior experience writing and executing a field plan, including relational organizing
Experience drafting communications and working with the press on behalf of a candidate
Commitment to racial, gender and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside organizations.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
Solid time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to quickly shift priorities and projects based on the campaign’s needs
Experience with campaigns in rural areas is preferred
A reliable vehicle
SALARY
This is a full-time position with a monthly salary of $5,000 and healthcare stipend. Candidates must be willing to travel, work on weekends and occasional holidays, and relocate to the Blacksburg area.
