We're organizing neighbor-to-neighbor and block-by-block to bring real change to Jersey City.

Position Overview

The Deputy Campaign Manager will be responsible for executing and improving a large-scale, grassroots field and fundraising program to turn out voters and assist in the management of the James Solomon for Mayor and all of the City Council candidates on the Team Solomon slate. This role will involve managing a team of candidates, organizers and volunteers. The ideal candidate has a record of managing field or campaign operations, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is deeply committed to building a people-powered movement.

You’ll be leading our ground game to ensure we connect with as many voters as possible ahead of Election Day.

Key Responsibilities

 

Slate Candidate Management:

  • Coordinate and manage a team of 8 Team Solomon City Council Candidates. Duties will include organizing candidate schedules, assisting with fundraising and field operations for the team Solomon Slate.

 

Field Team Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of Lead Organizers and field volunteers. Foster a culture of enthusiasm and growth. Help maintain strong relationships with volunteers.

 

Develop and Execute Field Strategy:

  • Design a comprehensive voter contact program that includes door-to-door canvassing, phone and text strategy, help rollout relational organizing via the Reach app, helping with candidate events, and high-traffic canvassing.

 

Data & Targeting:

  • Track field metrics using VAN and NGP. Ensure timely and accurate data entry & reporting.

 

Coalition and Event Support:

  • Work with community leaders, local organizations, businesses, community associations, and campaign partners to coordinate field efforts, visibility actions, meet and greets, and fundraisers.

 

Election Day Prep:

  • Plan and execute a robust GOTV strategy including early vote, vote-by-mail, and Election Day operations across all key wards/precincts.

 

Qualifications

  • 1 cycle of campaign field, finance, and campaign management experience required; field management or regional director experience preferred

  • Experience with VAN or other voter databases

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Passion for progressive politics and building grassroots power

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

 

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in Jersey City politics or deep local knowledge

  • Experience in managing a field and/or fundraising program.

  • Experience managing principals

  • Familiarity with digital organizing tools (e.g. Reach, Mobilize, MiniVAN, Switchboard)

  • Experience building and managing teams, especially in diverse, working-class communities

  • Event logistics and staging experience

  • Experience with canvass launch management and turf cutting
