The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Data and Analytics Director to join our team for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign. Michigan will be one of the most closely-watched states during the 2026 Midterm election cycle, and the Data Department will play a critical role in ensuring our program is able to effectively and efficiently reach voters across the state to elect a US Senator, win the Governor's mansion, and elect Democrats up and down the ticket.
The Deputy Data and Analytics Director will assist in creating and maintaining the overall data infrastructure for the Coordinated Campaign and will closely support other campaign departments and stakeholders. At their core, the Deputy Data and Analytics Director is an analyst and a team player. This role is meant for individuals who like to dig into data to find patterns, and for those who excel at plugging in with other departments to offer innovative solutions to complex problems. Ideal candidates will have a combination of technical aptitude, soft skills, and enthusiasm for electing Democrats who put Michigan issues first. This position reports to the Data and Analytics Director.
Support the Data Director in designing and implementing the campaign's statewide data program, including analytics, reporting, and targeting.
Design, build, and maintain automated and ad-hoc reports to evaluate volunteer recruitment and voter contact programs.
Administer NGP VAN and other volunteer and voter contact tools, developing training, best practices, and support documentation.
Work closely across campaign departments to collect, analyze, and present actionable insights that inform strategic decisions.
Analyze program results and present findings and recommendations to campaign leadership.
Ensure data quality, maintain pipelines, and troubleshoot issues to guarantee smooth operations across programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Data Director.
2+ cycles of experience on a political campaign or equivalent experience working in a data-oriented or technical role (such as data analytics, database administration, software development, or data engineering), or some combination of political and technical experience
Experience using VAN | Votebuilder at an administrative level
A technical skill set that includes proficiency in a variety of programming languages/software such as (but not limited to) Excel, Tableau, Google Data Studio (Looker Studio), Javascript, Python, R, dbt, QGIS
Familiarity with predictive models, voter targeting, and their application to campaign programs
Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Strong organizational and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate analysis into actionable campaign plans
Willingness to work in fast-paced campaign environment, which may require long, irregular hours, including some nights and weekends
Ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities
The pay range is $6,500 per month. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Detroit. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
