Position Overview: Deputy Data Director for Reporting & Analytics

On behalf of Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action, Grossman Solutions is hiring a Deputy Data Director for Reporting & Analytics to manage statewide reporting and analytics systems supporting a paid field campaign in six Congressional Districts across New York State. The program will include three distinct operations: voter registration, voter outreach, and GOTV activities. 

The Deputy Data Director for Reporting & Analytics will work with the Data Director and other campaign staff on a wide variety of projects. Their primary responsibilities will include creating and managing reporting processes for the campaign, independently analyzing data to find patterns for ad hoc projects and to make strategic recommendations, and looking for new data sources and other opportunities for creative targeting. This position reports to the Data Director.

 

About Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action

In 2024, New York will be a central battleground in the effort to win back the U.S. House of Representatives. Battleground New York, a new coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements representing hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life, has come together to flip the House and take back the majority. It will be the largest field and organizing campaign in modern New York history.

Battleground New York Action is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization led by the Working Families Party, Planned Parenthood Empire States Acts, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Communications Workers of the America District 1, Indivisible, AFSCME, New York State Nurses Association, and 32BJ SEIU.

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing data processes to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for strategic voter engagement

  • Managing the campaign’s reporting systems, including generating reports, dashboards, and visualizations to track campaign progress, performance, and key metrics for technical and non-technical audiences  

  • Providing daily and weekly reports to stakeholders

  • Working with the Data Director to identify, clean, and analyze new data sources

  • Using data creatively to answer staff and partner questions and for strategic decision-making

 

Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years’ experience in data management, analytics, or related fields, preferably within a political campaign or advocacy organization

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and at least one of: SQL, R, Python, or Stata

  • Proficiency in at least one of: Looker, Tableau, Periscope, or another reporting system

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations

  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting 

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Proficiency in VAN/VoteBuilder

  • Experience with BigQuery.

  • Project management experience

  • Experience doing volunteer or paid voter contact

  • Experience working in New York State

 

Location 

Candidates with New York State experience preferred; all candidates will be considered. This position is remote.

 

Compensation 

The pay range for this position is $5,000 to $7,000 monthly, to be set based on qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include a health insurance stipend.
