Position Overview: Deputy Data Director for Voter Contact
On behalf of Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action, Grossman Solutions is hiring a Deputy Data Director for Voter Contact to manage voter contact targeting, work with campaign leadership to make strategic decisions about the voter contact program and goals, cut and distribute turf, and perform quality assurance on voter contact data for a paid voter contact program in six Congressional Districts across New York State. This position will have an essential role within the campaign owning targeting, data, and quality assurance for the paid voter contact program.
The Deputy Data Director for Voter Contact will make targeting and resource allocation decisions and must be highly organized. This position is ideal for someone with an Organizing background who wants to expand their data skillset. This position reports to the Data Director.
About Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action
In 2024, New York will be a central battleground in the effort to win back the U.S. House of Representatives. Battleground New York, a new coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements representing hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life, has come together to flip the House and take back the majority. It will be the largest field and organizing campaign in modern New York history.
Battleground New York Action is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization led by the Working Families Party, Planned Parenthood Empire States Acts, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Communications Workers of the America District 1, Indivisible, AFSCME, New York State Nurses Association, and 32BJ SEIU.
Responsibilities
Using voter contact, voter file, census, and other data to make strategic decisions regarding voter contact targeting, execution, and reporting.
Maintaining targeted voter universes for paid voter contact initiatives and augmenting these universes as new information or needs arise.
Managing the voter contact quality assurance process, including analyzing paid voter contact data to ensure accuracy, measure staff performance, and identify trends.
Making strategic program recommendations to senior campaign leadership based on independent analysis of paid voter contact data.
Making geographic targeting decisions and cutting turf for a wide variety of geographies.
Training and supporting campaign staff on data tools, systems, and best practices.
Qualifications:
1+ years’ experience in organizing, data management, analytics, or related fields, preferably within a political campaign or advocacy organization
Proficiency in VAN/VoteBuilder and Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with others
Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting
Nice to Have:
Experience with SQL, R, Python, Stata, or another programming language
Experience using MiniVAN or another canvassing app
Experience using a predictive dialer
Proficiency in multiple languages
Located in or experience working in New York State
Location
Candidates based in New York State or with New York State experience are strongly preferred; other candidates will be considered. This position is remote.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $5,000 to $7,000 monthly, to be set based on qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include a health insurance stipend.
