JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: The Montana Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign is hiring a Deputy Data Director for the

2024 election cycle. Montana is the most important battleground state in 2024, with highly competitive

elections at all levels, including reelecting Senator Jon Tester. The Deputy Data Director will report

directly to the Data & Analytics Director and work in close partnership with other Coordinated

departments. This position is full-time in-person, based in Billings, Montana, and may require some

travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain reports to support key programmatic priorities across several

  • Coordinated teams, including Organizing, Distributed and Voter Access verticals

  • Provide timely & strategic analysis of voterfile and election data

  • Develop pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into reports and tools as needed

  • Assist the Data & Analytics Director in targeting and resource allocation

  • Create and maintain data standards in coordination with the Organizing team to ensure proper data capture and hygiene

  • Respond to data support requests, questions and flags

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Recommended Skills and Experience:

  • At least one previous cycle of campaign or equivalent political experience; familiarity with Votebuilder/VAN preferred

  • A technical skill set that includes familiarity or proficiency in a variety of programming languages and software such as Google Suite, SQL, Python, QGIS and R.

  • Desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and learn new technical skills and platforms

  • Ability to communicate effectively within teams and across departments, especially explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment, that may require long, irregular hours, including some nights and weekends

  • A solutions-oriented approach to challenges and ability to think creatively to solve unique problems

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities at once

  • Commitment to electing Montana Democrats up and down the ballot.
