JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

From August 19-22, 2024, Democrats from all over the country will gather together in the City of Chicago to participate in the Democratic National Convention, where we will nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election. The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is assembling a diverse team with skills in community engagement, event logistics, finance, operations, IT, and more. The DNCC team will oversee and deliver on all aspects of the planning and execution of this Convention, from housing the delegates to convening Platform Committee meetings to producing the Convention’s live programming, which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

 

SUMMARY

The Political & Coalitions team is responsible for developing and implementing the outreach strategy with state parties, federal, state and local elected officials, sister committees, as well as a diverse group of allied partners. The team works in close coordination with all stakeholders and serves as their main point of contact for all their convention needs and activities. The Political & Coalitions team will also ensure that all entities are kept up to date on convention activities and are prepared to travel in Chicago in August. 

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Deputy Director reports to the Senior Director for Political and Coalitions Outreach

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build close working relationships with national allied groups, including but not limited to constituency, policy, and campaign organizations, as well as nonprofit and private sector groups traveling to Chicago for convention

  • Lead tracking of allied groups requests, needs and questions across DNCC teams

  • Liaise with other DNCC team (leadership, communications, venues and logistics) to facilitate cross-functional coordination on behalf of the Political & Coalitions team

  • Lead on DNCC events and logistics, prepare briefing materials and memos

  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience engaging senior principals across diverse national stakeholders and allied groups, as well engaging with high-level political, nonprofit, and private sector leaders

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, and represent the Political & Coalitions team as thought leaders and partners at all times

  • Strong organizational, communication, creative thinking and writing skills 

  • Strong problem solving and decision making

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working across multiple teams and ability to juggle multiple tasks 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent DNCC in a professional, welcoming, and responsive manner

  • Flexibility and openness to evolving responsibilities

  • Proficiency working in Google Suite 

 

TRAVEL: This job may require occasional travel—less than 10%

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. All of these spaces are professional office environments, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position mainly uses an assigned workstation but may require movement or maintaining a stationary position for short or long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 10 lb

 

ANTICIPATED START DATE: April 16, 2024

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

SALARY & BENEFITS: The anticipated starting salary for this position is $110,000. The DNCC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.
