Purpose:
The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) seeks to hire a Deputy Director of Major Gifts. The Deputy Director will be responsible for raising funds from individual major donors, executing high level AG fundraising events, and supporting the Director of Major Gifts. The Deputy Development Director will also coordinate with AGs, AG teams, DAGA leadership and outside consultants, to strategize and execute on AG fundraising, including events, call time, meetings, and any other non-digital fundraising tools.
This person will work closely with the Director of Major Gifts and other members of the Development team to meet aggressive fundraising goals for the 2026 election cycle. The ideal candidate will be self starter who is professional, resourceful, results-oriented, and enthusiastic about providing critical support to the development team and interfacing with DAGA partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
Raise $500,000 annually
Develop a prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship plan for $25,000-$50,000 level individual donors.
Manage all in-state AG events, meetings, and call time in partnership with the Development Manager.
Manage follow up on AG call time, events, and meetings.
Coordinate all activities of DAGA Finance Chair to execute meetings, calls, event requests, other needs, and scheduling.
Manage and execute all AG call time and follow-up in partnership with the Development Manager
Help track AG travel and work with AGs to execute DAGA fundraising during national travel
Assist with prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship of Labor, ideological, and philanthropic fundraising efforts.
Advise and participate as needed in events or fundraising activities led by the Business Council Partnerships or other members of the DAGA Development team.
Prepare memos, call sheets, and talking points for AGs and other principals as needed
Draft solicitations, invitations, and any other collateral needed.
Assist in creating monthly and yearly projections for major gifts fundraising.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
4+ years of fundraising experience and at least one full cycle of experience as a Finance Director or equivalent senior fundraising role for a campaign or political organization
Worked with, solicited, and grew a major donor portfolio of donors at the $25,000-$50,000 level
Strong donor-facing skills with a track record of building authentic, long-term relationships
Comfortable making significant direct asks and pursuing new donor relationships
Experience working in fundraising for a 527 Political Organization, Federal PAC, or on a campaign preferred
Donor relationship management and strong knowledge of stakeholders
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, particularly in briefing materials for principals and the development of proposals to donors and other pitch materials
Commitment to a broader understanding of educating the public on the work of Attorneys General
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Results-oriented with a proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines and objectives
Project management skills that enable the juggling of multiple tasks, allocating and optimizing resources, and managing timelines

DAGA’s office is open 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern, but extended and nontraditional work hours are required.
DAGA offices are in downtown DC.
DAGA will work with potential candidates to schedule remote interviews and process onboarding procedures remotely, as necessary.
