Georgia Youth Justice Coalition seeks a full-time Deputy Executive Director of Development and Narrative to implement our development and narrative programs and manage, support, and train youth leaders in effective storytelling and resource development.

About the Position
As the Deputy Executive Director of Development and Narrative at GYJC, you will work closely with the Executive Director to lead and implement organizational strategy in service to GYJC’s mission and the young people of Georgia. The ideal candidate for the role is a communication person who can write powerfully about our work to build a multiracial base and win change for young Georgians in a way that moves multiple audiences. They are a systems creator, a strong manager, and a compelling communicator. As a senior leader in a young organization, they’ll be expected to create foundational infrastructure, engage regularly in voter contact, and sustain an inclusive, equitable, and results-oriented culture.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that integrates institutional, individual, and union giving, expanding donor base and meeting key deadlines and goals.
Manage and execute a narrative plan that includes earned, paid, and digital media, establishing metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of platforms, tactics, and content.
Plan and execute donor stewardship, digital communications, press outreach, and maintain clean data within EveryAction, ActBlue, Google Sheets, and Quickbooks.
Train youth leaders on key development and narrative activities, including donor research, donor stewardship, copywriting, storytelling, and stakeholder meetings.
Assist in coordination across teams through meetings and internal communication.
Ensure the Executive Director is up-to-date on internal team functions and needs and escalate personnel or programmatic issues as they arise.
Work with the Executive Director to develop relationships with key stakeholders, including institutional and individual funders, paid media firms, and reporters.
Foster a positive, productive team culture, including through regular youth outreach.
Represent the organization at events and conferences as necessary.
Qualifications
Have 3+ cycles of full-time paid campaign experience or three years of full-time non-profit experience with at least one cycle or one year of management experience
Have an entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine enthusiasm to build new infrastructure while achieving key goals and meeting deadlines with attention to detail
Strong commitment to progressive values and to do the work that needs to be done, including regular engagement with direct voter contact
Strong proficiency with EveryAction, ActBlue, Google Suite, and Meta platforms
Some experience with paid media campaigns, grant writing, media relations, or knowledge of multi-entity nonprofit structure strongly preferred
Good sense of humor, ability to adapt to a changing work environment, and genuine enthusiasm to mentor and learn from young people
Ability to navigate multiracial, multiethnic, youth spaces with grace and humility
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
Have a driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle
Working at the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition
This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to the Executive Director. Car travel within the state of Georgia will be required 10-25% for stakeholder meetings, press conferences, events, and base engagement. We offer a generous benefits package which includes unlimited PTO; professional development stipend; and insurance plans for health, dental, and vision. This role is remote, but GYJC maintains an office in Atlanta, GA and applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Georgia.
Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 based on experience
