Position: Deputy Executive Director

Compensation:$75,000 to $90,000 with performance based bonus

Role Overview: The Colorado Democratic Party (CDP) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Deputy Executive Director. This is a full-time exempt position, reporting to the Executive Director. This position is primarily responsible for working with the other department directors and Chair to effectively raise and manage the funds that support the CDP and its electoral programs. The Deputy Executive Director is a part of the leadership team and will lead and assist on special political projects and events.
The ideal candidate will have significant fundraising experience, including in event planning, call time management, donor research, online fundraising and financial planning. The Deputy Executive Director will develop and execute strategic fundraising plans and meet performance milestones. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and executing events and other fundraising activities, managing and running large and small events, developing and monitoring call time, building and maintaining donor relationships, and making direct solicitations of state and local donors through multiple channels and media. Additionally, they will be an aggressive innovator of new ideas, approaches, and opportunities to raise funds. This position is highly collaborative and crucial to the CDP achieving its mission of electing Democrats at all levels in 2026 and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Working with Party leadership and staff to create and implement short and long-term fundraising/financial plans for the Party that define financial needs and develop new and existing revenue streams.
Develop, manage and execute events (galas, fundraisers, and volunteer events) and all other activities related to fundraising.
Provide strategic advice to the Chair and Executive Director to develop an annual budget.
Identify donor targets and outreach plans to achieve budget objectives.
Maintain and ensure accuracy of donor databases and conduct research on new and potential contributors.
Raise funds through personal call time and staffing Chair, Officers, Executive Director during call time.
Be a resource for Democratic County Parties, elected officials, and candidates on fundraising strategy, partnership opportunities, and reporting based on state and federal campaign finance law.
Manage donor acknowledgement, including timely thank you letters and tracking outgoing letters.
Oversee digital fundraising program, including the drafting and sending fundraising emails and social media content
Work with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director to ensure cash flow and budget projections are met.
Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Director when necessary or delegated, including managing staff and overseeing day-to-day operations

Minimum of 3 cycles of political fundraising experience
Comfort working with high-level Democratic officials, candidates, staff, and donors
Experience planning and executing major events
Prior experience writing fundraising emails
Prior experience with targeting contributors and follow up management
Experience managing staff
Experience coordinating with stakeholders
Ability to manage details and stay on top of multiple tasks, large and small
Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills – the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere;
Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and NGP
