ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez represents Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. She is a small business owner and mom of a toddler who flipped a Trump +4 district by showing up everywhere, actually listening to people, and focusing on the real-world problems of working people.

 

Marie For Congress is one of the most successful House campaigns in the country, developing and deploying innovative strategies in some of the nation's most competitive terrain.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Deputy Field Director will work with the Field Director to oversee the campaign’s direct voter contact program and volunteer organizing operations across the district. The Deputy Field Director will work closely with the Field Director to trouble-shoot direct voter contact platforms with organizers and volunteers, create strong systems, and set aggressive but achievable goals. This is a leadership role for someone with strong management instincts, operational discipline, and a proven ability to work in a fast paced campaign environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in overseeing volunteer organizing operations.

  • Maintain a working understanding of district geography, regional dynamics, and voter behavior to guide field planning.

  • Assist the Field Director with hiring and onboarding field organizers, field fellows, and setting performance expectations.

  • Assist in managing a team of field organizers and interns, and be able to help large groups of people prioritize, achieve goals, and remain motivated at work.

  • Help create accountability systems for reporting, turf management, shifts, metrics, and quality control.

  • Ensure accurate reporting of volunteer numbers, door counts, contact rates, and persuasion or ID metrics. 

  • Build a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Have at least one cycle of field experience on a Democratic campaign or related organization.

  • Have excellent data management skills, and proficiency in software like VoteBuilder, MiniVAN, Reach, or other voter file management and organizing softwares. 

  • Have strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately report up-to-date data in high-pressure situations.

  • Have the ability to manage staff and regularly evaluate their performance, implementing accountability structures to ensure success.

  • Have a current driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Have an ability to work outside of normal business hours, particularly closer to Election Day.

  • Commitment to building an inclusive and supportive team environment.

 

ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

Campaign needs and district dynamics shift quickly. The Deputy Field Director must be ready to:

  • Travel to events across the district.

  • Work evenings and weekends when needed.

  • Occasionally take on out-of-scope tasks in service of the campaign’s success.

  • The role will require relocation if not currently in Southwest Washington or nearby.
