JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:

Blue Wave America is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as part-time Deputy Field Organizers for the 2024 election cycle, helping lead the effort to drive turnout in the rural counties of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan spanning from Ontonagon to Chippewa.

Deputy Field Organizers will work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot and will be responsible for implementing an aggressive field plan and managing the GOTV operation in rural areas in the U.P. of Michigan. In addition, Deputy Field Organizers will be responsible for engaging in relational organizing strategies by cultivating relationships with relational volunteers and assisting with regional events.

Deputy Field Organizers will report directly to the Regional Field Director. This is a hybrid position requiring in-personal travel throughout the U.P. of Michigan. Candidates with prior personal or professional experience in rural areas in the U.P. of Michigan are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation begins at $20 per hour, paid in installments twice monthly. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. This part-time, temporary position is based in the U.P. of Michigan and ends on November 5, 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing all aspects of the field program in the assigned region.

  • Coordinating and participating in direct voter contact programs to persuade and mobilize voters including phone banking, door-knocking, and text banking.

  • Recruiting, training and managing volunteers and interns.

  • Meeting weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.

  • Building strong relationships with relational volunteers and volunteer event hosts, having strong 1:1s, and facilitating relational voter contact.

  • Representing Blue Wave America with professionalism at designated events

Qualifications:

  •  Great interpersonal skills — ability to listen well and communicate effectively.

  •  Strong time management and organizational skills.

  •  Adept at relationship-building with volunteers and voters.

  •  Willingness to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends.

  •  Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  •  Experience volunteering or working for campaigns is a plus but it is not required.

  •  Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle, mobile phone, and laptop.

  •  Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals, and electing Democratic candidates.

Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
