JOB DESCRIPTION

The Michigan House Democratic Fund (MHDF) is looking for a dedicated and energetic Deputy

Finance Director to help us raise the revenue needed to strengthen our core operation and help

take the chamber in 2026.

 

The Deputy Finance Director will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations of

the fundraising team. This position will directly report to the Finance Director and is a unique

opportunity to obtain significant experience in all aspects of political fundraising for a nationally

targeted legislative chamber.

 

Responsibilities include:

● Work with incumbent members and new candidates to draft and execute their individual

finance plans, fundraising strategies, and campaign budgets.

● Train candidates and campaign staff in fundraising & budgeting skills and best practices.

● Create & maintain strong working relationships with candidates, campaign staff, partner

organizations, and stakeholders.

● Manage, track, and oversee call time.

● Conduct donor research on potential local, statewide, and national donors for candidates

and the Caucus.

● Event support; help build, support, and staff fundraising events; including, preparing

materials for events, host maintenance, and assisting with day-of logistics

● Ensure all financial activities comply with campaign finance laws and regulations.

● Assist in preparing and filing required financial disclosures and reports.

● Maintain organized records of contributions, expenditures, and donor communications.

● Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

● Detail oriented self-starter with multiple campaign cycles of fundraising experience

● Proficiency in fundraising databases such as NGP

● Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of wide-ranging responsibilities

● Ability to manage multiple priorities at once, meet key deadlines, and work in fast-paced

environment

● Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

● Willing to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends

● Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation
