JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our team at Mitchell Berman for Congress as we work to flip a swing district in WI-01 and send an ER nurse to Washington to fix a broken system.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing team and play a central role in one of the most high-profile congressional races in the country. The Deputy Finance Director will have a significant impact on the campaign's fundraising operation from the ground up, working closely with senior leadership at a critical moment in the race.

Responsibilities

 

Management

  • Work with Campaign Manager to set fundraising goals and develop quarterly finance plans

  • Manage a team of finance staff, including the Finance Manager, finance assistants, interns, and other junior staff

  • Along with Campaign Manager, coordinate outreach to potential partners and manage existing relationships with national partners

  • Prepare regular updates on overall fundraising performance

  • Assist with compliance oversight and manage as needed

 

Call Time

  • Develop and implement best practices and systems for call time, donor research, and data management

  • Staff call time as needed (take notes, track follow-ups, etc.); prepare call lists, and train and manage call time assistants as the finance department grows

  • Plan and organize call time schedule, including prioritizing various call universes, coordinating the candidate schedule with the Campaign Manager

 

Events

  • Work with hosts to build out high-dollar fundraisers

  • Build relationships with event hosts and other major donors

  • Staff the candidate at events

  • Potential for occasional travel to events in other states

 

Analytics

  • Track and report on fundraising performance against goals, providing regular updates to the Campaign Manager

  • Maintain and analyze fundraising data to identify trends, prioritize outreach, and inform strategy

  • Build and refine dashboards or reports to give the campaign real-time visibility into finance metrics

  • Evaluate call time and event ROI to help allocate the candidate's time effectively

  • Identify and research prospective donors to continuously expand the campaign's fundraising universe

 

Growth

  • As the campaign grows, the Deputy Finance Director will take on increasing leadership responsibilities across the finance operation, with expanding scope commensurate with the campaign's needs and the candidate's performance

  • For the right candidate, there is a path to promotion to Finance Director as the campaign scales

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with 2-4 years experience tracking performance, managing data, or working in a metrics-driven environment; backgrounds in analytics, consulting, or similar fields are welcome

  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders

  • Experience managing or mentoring others

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Campaign experience a plus, but not required; a willingness to learn the landscape quickly is essential

 

Compensation & Logistics

  • $4,500–$5,500/month, based on experience and qualifications

  • $500/month healthcare reimbursement stipend

  • This is an in-person position
