The Democratic Party of Michigan is seeking an experienced Deputy Operations Director. This role will work alongside the Operations Director to help establish and implement early systems and processes at the statewide level. This role will be responsible for helping to oversee the operations, logistics, and people power of the 2026 Coordinated Campaign in Michigan. This critical role will work closely with other departments to implement programming to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. The Operations team is looking for someone with strong leadership skills, who is self motivated, and enjoys solving complex problems. This position is full-time and based in Detroit, Michigan. Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
Operational Management: Assists in daily operations, including IT, HR, facilities, and logistics to ensure statewide efficiency.
Strategic Planning: Collaborates with the Operations Director to develop and execute organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
Performance Tracking: Monitors performance metrics, develops reporting processes, and analyzes data for continuous improvement.
Policy Development: Creates, updates, and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports that track, but are not limited to hiring, physical office locations, and budget
Work closely with the Operations Director to maintain day-to-day spending, accurately track projected expenses, including:
Track the Coordinated expenses and regularly reconciling all accounts
Assist with employee benefits and reconciling benefit expenses across the organization
Assist with recordkeeping of revenue and expenses for compliance reporting purposes
Coordinate and track staff and volunteer needs, including supplies and technology assets as requested
Assist operations staff with HR processes, including onboarding new hires and offboarding existing staff
Secure coordinated campaign offices, negotiate leases, set up and maintain utilities and supplies, and serve as the operations point-of-contact for facilities statewide
Provide logistical support for all coordinated departments, including working with vendors, ordering merchandise and materials, completing regular supply audits, etc.
Access to a vehicle with the ability to drive across the state to various counties
Other responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
At least 1 cycle in campaign, advocacy, administrative work, or a related operations role
Previous experience with budget and expense tracking
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
A desire to work collaboratively to implement creative solutions to unique problems
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills, customer service oriented, and ability to communicate with people from many backgrounds.
Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Michigan
Compensation and Location:
The monthly salary for this role is $6,500/month. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Detroit, Michigan.
