JOB DESCRIPTION

The MN Senate DFL is hiring field staff to protect the DFL majority ahead of the SD-45 special election. This special election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and will determine which party holds the majority in the Minnesota Senate. The Deputy Organizing Director will be responsible for implementing the caucus’s program in a targeted Senate District supporting the endorsed DFL Senate candidate and DFLers up and down the ballot, including:

 

  • Managing day-to-day implementation of the field program;

  • Assist the candidate with the development and execution of a detailed field plan;

  • Coordinate closely with the District Field Organizer(s), who will be responsible for all organizing efforts in the district, including direct voter contact and volunteer recruitment and retention;

  • Recruiting, managing, and training grassroots volunteer teams to support all aspects of the program;

  • Representing the DFL by attending and planning local events;

  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with local DFL officers, activists, and constituency leaders;

  • And other tasks as assigned by the Minnesota DFL

 

The ideal candidate for this role is an organized project manager or campaign manager with at least one cycle of experience, with excellent interpersonal communications skills and a passion for DFL values. They should have excellent time management skills, a meticulous attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a knack for creative problem-solving. They may have knowledge of VAN, a track record of managing people, and/or an ability to work effectively with the public. Preference will be given to candidates who live or work in their District or have done so previously. This positions has the potential for extension past the SD-45 special election.
