JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

The Deputy Political Director will play a critical role in supporting the Political Director in managing and executing Lander for NYC’s political strategy. This position involves building relationships with key stakeholders, coordinating with community leaders, and ensuring that the campaign’s political efforts align with its overall goals. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in navigating the political landscape to advance the campaign’s mission.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with elected officials, political organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders.

  • Act as a representative for the campaign at meetings, events, and forums.

  • Coordinate with coalitions and partner organizations to support mutual goals.

 

Political Strategy Support:

  • Work closely with the Political Director to implement the campaign’s political strategy.

  • Research and analyze political trends, voter demographics, and legislative issues to inform decision-making.

  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and updates for the Political Director, candidate, and senior leadership.

 

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Assist in organizing political events, including fundraisers, roundtables, and endorsements.

  • Manage logistics for events, including scheduling, attendee outreach, and follow-up.

  • Ensure events align with the campaign’s goals and messaging.

 

Field and Volunteer Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the organizing team to align political efforts with grassroots activities.

  • Support volunteer mobilization efforts for political initiatives and events.

  • Provide training and resources to volunteers and staff as needed.

 

Data and Reporting:

  • Track and manage data related to political relationships, endorsements, and outreach efforts.

  • Monitor and report on the progress of political initiatives, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Maintain detailed records of stakeholder engagement and political activities.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in political campaigns, advocacy, or government relations.

  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and political strategy.

 

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse groups.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Knowledge of the political landscape, including key stakeholders and legislative processes.

  • Proficiency in data management tools and campaign software (e.g., NGP, VAN, or similar platforms).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on political campaigns or within advocacy organizations.

  • Established relationships with political and community leaders.

  • Multilingual skills to engage diverse communities.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the campaign schedule.

  • Regular travel within the campaign’s geographic area to attend meetings and events.

 

Compensation:

Salary is $5000-$6500/month commensurate with experience, including a comprehensive benefits package.
