Friends of Sherrod Brown is looking for a Deputy Political Director for the 2026 election cycle. As part of the campaign’s senior staff, this person will manage and execute the political strategy per region, working closely with the Political Director, Deputy Campaign Manager, and regional stakeholders and partners. A successful candidate will be a strong manager of staff and program and be able to strategically advise the campaign on regional engagement.
Location: This person will be expected to relocate to Columbus, Ohio ASAP
Responsibilities include:
Create and execute the regional strategy for a top-tier Senate race
Develop a program to engage local partners and stakeholders all over the state
Hire and directly manage a team of regional staffers
Spearhead the elected official and regional related endorsement and surrogate operations
Collaborate with the Digital, Comms, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure the regional strategy supports the broader campaign
Set the local priorities for the candidate’s schedule, including events, meetings, and call time
Build and maintain trackers, contact lists, reporting structures, and other internal systems
Keep the Political Director informed of critical political dynamics all over the state
Travel and staff events as needed
Qualified candidates will have:
2+ cycles of campaign experience
Significant experience managing a large team and program
An understanding of Ohio and the in-state landscape
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders and principals
A strategic approach to solving complex political scenarios
A willingness to engage all parts of the Democratic coalition in Ohio
Strong attention to detail with ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and tight deadlines
A commitment to a no-drama attitude
