The Haley Stevens for Senate Campaign is seeking a ** Deputy**** Press Secretary** to join our growing team. Our campaign, based in Detroit, MI, is quickly scaling and this position will be critical to executing a successful communications strategy.
The ideal candidate will have experience drafting communications materials, reporter research, experience coordinating events and interviews, and will be detail-oriented, a strong writer, and a self-starter who is able to balance competing priorities.
The ** Deputy**** Press Secretary’s** duties will include:
Assist with writing comms materials including but not limited to press releases, talking points, and remarks for partners and surrogates;
Write memos ahead of press interviews for the Congresswoman and partners;
Assist with planning and executing press events across the state, including traveling to staff and advance events and preparing event speakers;
Assist with managing the campaign’s press inquiries;
Manage and expand a robust letter to the editor program;
Brainstorming creative tactics to further the communications department’s short and long term goals;
Work to help execute a rapid response strategy during key campaign moments
Other responsibilities and special projects as needed to support the communications department.
Qualified candidates will have:
1+ years of political communications experience, ideally on a campaign or at a similar organization.
Strong written and verbal communications skills
A positive attitude, a self-starter mentality, and willingness to be a team player
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized while working on multiple projects at once with varying deadlines
Compensation:
Salary: $6,000 monthly

Hours: This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle, and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
