About the Role: Friends of Sherrod Brown is seeking a Deputy Research Director. The Deputy Research Director will work with the Research Director to plan and execute the campaign’s research priorities and will help oversee the department and staff. The Deputy Research director will also play a key role with paid media and rapid response.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates across departments to complete opposition research projects, including targeted projects, book follow-ups, and reporter pitch documents.
Leads vetting operations and completes high-level vets like stories, people and businesses featured in paid media.
Trains and supervises research associates and tracker, first reviewer of all tracking reports and first editor of most research projects.
Prepares backup documents for paid media and polling.
Assists with nearly all aspects of RD portfolio as needed.
Assists with rapid response.
Reviews and approves all digital fundraising copy.
Assists with volunteer tracker recruitment and training as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1-2 cycles of opposition research experience required. Campaign or committee experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to write research bullets and documents.
Experience with public records research, including Nexis, legal records and campaign finance databases.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to be a team player and support colleagues across all departments.
Logistics:
Level: Deputy
Salary: $7,000 to $8,000 monthly
Location: Columbus, OH but may start remotely with the expectation that they relocate.
Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision plan at no premium upon meeting plan eligibility requirements.
Leave: Paid time off will be available per FOSB policy.
Hours: Full-time, may include evening and weekend work depending on campaign needs.
