Description

The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking an experienced Regional Organizing Director for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the grassroots turnout operation needed to win close elections this November.

At their core, Regional Organizing Directors are coaches, who are always ready to roll up their sleeves and jump onto the field. They will be responsible for coaching and managing a team of Organizers, and will play a critical role in executing the coordinated campaign’s statewide organizing strategy on the ground. 

Regionals are managers responsible for coaching and supporting Organizers, ensuring metric-driven success, and developing staff to meet programmatic goals. Regional Organizing Directors are resilient leaders, intentional people managers, and creative problem-solvers who thrive in fast-paced, metric-driven environments. This role reports to the Deputy Organizing Director and is based in Detroit, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities & Characteristics

  • Coach, mentor, and manage a team of Organizers to ensure effective implementation of the coordinated campaign’s organizing plan within their assigned region.

  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and development of Organizing staff, including Organizers and Fellows.

  • Ensure organizing teams are trained, supported, and equipped to meet ambitious volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals, in collaboration with campaign leadership.

  • Develop systems and processes that drive accountability, data integrity, and consistent execution across the region.

  • Monitor progress toward daily, weekly, and phase-based goals, and provide strategic intervention when Organizers fall behind.

  •  Help build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, county parties, and coalition partners in coordination with campaign leadership.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of large-scale volunteer and campaign events.

  • Travel regularly within Michigan to support your team and meet organizers where they are.

  • Support the Deputy Organizing Director in systems management and troubleshooting program execution on the ground.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 1+ cycles of organizing experience, with a strong preference for at least 1-2 cycles of experience managing paid staff.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven fluency with VAN, Mobilize, and other organizing tools.

  • Ability to work within a team to achieve shared goals across a statewide program.

  • Ability to thrive in fast pace environment, work long hours including weekends, and manage high pressure situations 

  • Willingness to travel as needed; access to a reliable vehicle, laptop and cell phone required.

Salary, Benefits, and Logistics

The pay range is $5,610 per month. Applicants must live in Detroit, Michigan. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
