JOB DESCRIPTION

The Bloc is a progressive strategy hub working at the intersection of media, politics, and social movements to advance a populist, multiracial vision for America’s economy and democracy. We work with base-building groups, advocacy campaigns, policymakers, and coalitions to move their priorities and narratives through mainstream media and digital platforms - mobilizing and expanding the base, persuading the middle, and isolating the opposition. The Bloc launched in 2024, most notably through the Uncommitted Campaign, and has grown significantly since its inception.

To support our rapid growth, we are looking for a Development and Operations Associate who will assist in:

  • Strengthening our development systems - identifying, tracking, pitching, reporting, etc - for both individual donors and philanthropic institutions

  • Developing and refining materials - documents, presentations, multi-media

  • Relationship management with donors, foundations, vendors, and consultants

  • Refining our operational and backend systems, including budget projecting and tracking, workplanning, G suite management, etc

  • Supporting the Managing Director in scoping, testing, and launching new initiatives

As part of a small and committed team, this position will work closely with both colleagues and consultants who support financial management, human resources, tracking, and compliance. Candidates should display:

  • Experience with donor databases (e.g., EveryAction, Salesforce, etc)

  • Proficiency with Google Suite and familiarity with project management tools, e.g. Asana, ClickUp, Airtable, etc

  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Sheets for budget tracking and reporting

  • Familiarity with donor networks and foundations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience and/or comfort in start-up environments

  • Problem-solving orientation

  • High professional standards, strong work ethic, and good judgment

  • Flexible, positive attitude that cultivates joy and resilience in work settings

  • Deep alignment with The Bloc’s vision and values
