Leaders We Deserve is seeking a strategic and motivated Development Associate to support and expand the fundraising success of the organization. In this role, you’ll cultivate and expand the Leaders We Deserve donor base, use creative and strategic thinking to creatively problem solve, and constantly search for new ways to maximize donor engagement with Leaders We Deserve.
Leaders We Deserve is a political organization dedicated to electing the next generation of bold, young, progressive leaders to state legislatures and Congress by running hard-hitting independent expenditures on their behalf, along with working with them directly and advising them on all aspects of their campaign. By collaborating directly with candidates on their campaign strategy, communication, fundraising, political outreach, coalition building and more, LWD helps candidates take their campaign to the highest level and maximize their chance of winning.
LWD was co-founded by David Hogg, Parkland survivor and Gun Safety advocate, along with Kevin Lata, Congressman Maxwell Frost’s Campaign Manager and the 2022 Campaign Manager of the year.

Development Associate Responsibilities:
Data Management
Create and maintain meticulous donor records, including contacts, pledges, event hosts, and more.
Manage data entry and tracking systems for all Leaders We Deserve fundraising and revenue streams, incorporating data cleanliness at all stages.
Ensure all databases are closely managed and data is kept to the highest standard of cleanliness. Databases include NGP and Numero.
Donor Relations Support
Support the Development Director in the identification, cultivation, and management of relationships with current and prospective individual donors, donor advisors, corporate supporters, and foundations from various geographies and sectors.
Staff LWD President, David Hogg, for Fundraising Call Time as needed.
Research prospective individual donors, donor advisors, corporate supporters, and foundations from various geographies and sectors in alignment with the overall fundraising goals of the organization.
Continuously steward donors to ensure ongoing giving.
Assist with the creation of proposals, pitch decks, reports and other relevant media to pitch, close, and steward fundraising opportunities.
Support Development Director with major donor engagement.
Other duties as assigned by the Development Director.
Development Associate Qualification:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to receive direction and take constructive criticism in stride.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Prior experience in at least one development and/or fundraising role, preferable within a nonprofit, political campaign, or grassroots organization.
Development Associate Compensation
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
Healthcare: 100% employer paid platinum level healthcare, dental, and vision.

The Development Associate is a full-time, exempt position with an indefinite term that reports directly to the Development Director.
