JOB DESCRIPTION

House Rules Committee Ranking Member Jim McGovern is seeking a highly motivated, detail-orientated, and energetic individual to serve as a Digital Associate and Press Assistant for his campaign. Daily tasks include creating content for and managing multiple social media channels and accounts, frequently driving the Congressman and taking photos and videos at events throughout the district, compiling daily press clips, helping to manage fundraising and outreach emails, graphic design, and other duties as assigned. The position may require work outside standard office hours.

Core Responsibilities

  • Producing a substantial amount of social media content and posting frequently across multiple social media accounts and platforms.

  • Driving the Congressman to events, including taking photos and videos and producing high-quality, on-the-go video content to highlight the member’s work.

  • Helping to draft press releases, talking points, speeches, e-newsletters, and op-eds.

  • Managing the Congressman’s website and helping to maintain press lists and disseminate press advisories and releases.

  • Assisting in the pitching, planning and coordination of media interviews in the district.

  • Helping to plan and execute a digital advertising plan – including creating and buying ads on Facebook, Instagram, Google, and YouTube.

  • Contributing to the office’s overall district outreach by helping to plan Facebook lives, Instagram Q&As, and exploring new avenues for digital engagement while the Congressman is in Massachusetts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong candidates will have experience in at least one to two campaign cycles.

  • A passion for political communication and the ability to take initiative in a busy and fast-paced work environment.

  • Experience with graphic design and video editing, including Adobe software (Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator, After Effects)

  • Knowledge of HTML or CSS and experience with Facebook Business Manager, Google Ads, and other analytics software.

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills, particularly with respect to breaking down complex topics and ideas into simple language.

 

Candidates who live in or are willing to relocate to Massachusetts are strongly preferred. Salary starting at $55,000.
