Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia (PPAV) is seeking a full time Digital Communications Associate to join our team!
The Digital Communications Associate is responsible for managing social media advocacy, our email program, and both the VA League for Planned Parenthood (VLPP) and PPAV websites in conjunction with the Communications Director. Working closely with community organizers to build sustainable power throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Digital Communications Associate fully integrates supporters across a range of online and offline engagements.
The Digital Communications Associate is responsible for helping Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia reach and grow a network of activists that are responsive and engaged.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a desire to engage PPAV and VLPP supporters and underrepresented populations through online engagement and digital organizing tactics, does not shy away from new challenges, and has a “Can Do” attitude and positive energy that will reflect in all projects and representation of the organization. We are seeking someone who understands digital communications and finds innovative ways to create graphics using the Planned Parenthood branding.

This position requires local travel throughout the state as applicable and some evening and weekend hours are required. All members of the PPAV team contribute to our electoral work prior to elections through door knocking and other team events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the advocacy and organizing team to develop and implement digital strategic plans for campaigns, with a focus on growing and engaging new audiences and expanding the reach of the organization’s social media
Create and develop engaging content – including email and Tik Tok scripts and videos, SMS alerts, blog posts, social media graphics, video, etc. to reach targeted audiences
Maintains and updates all social media channels, as well as PPAV and VLPP websites
Creates and manages social media strategy
Works with field team to collect engaging video content from on the ground
Develops and manages advocacy email content and schedule
Edits online action pages (petition pages, sign-up forms, etc.)
Adjusts content and strategies when needed to respond to breaking news
Performs other duties as assigned in support of promoting digital work
Digitally support volunteer teams in remote areas or places where organizers are not on the ground
Additional Qualifications Required:
Well organized and strong attention to detail
Creative eye for graphic design and developing content across a variety of channels and platforms (Canva experience preferred), with proven ability for quick turnaround
Proficiency in MS Office and Google suite required
Proficiency in the strategic use of Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok
Ability to create and execute digital plans and campaigns that complement field activities
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines as well as work in a fluid and fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal and communication skills that enable work in a collaborative and
multi-faceted team environment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with collecting, editing and publishing video content a plus

Pay Range: $45,000-$50,000 annually
