We seek conscious and skilled candidates with a deep commitment to racial and economic justice to join our Digital Department as a Digital Director. The director would implement innovative digital strategy and support campaigns at the state policy, political, organizing and communications level, grow a digital base of active supporters, increase social media presence and engagement, and support and build digital organizing campaigns around issues including housing justice, public education, raising wages, healthcare, immigrant justice and more - as part of year-round organizing efforts. Seeking management experience, working with diverse communities and demonstrated experience creating digital strategy and content that builds audiences of working class Black, Asian, Latinx, and immigrant communities in Virginia.
NVM has set compensation and a non-negotiation policy for fairness reasons (we don't think that an individual's pay should be determined by how comfortable they are negotiating). As a result, we like to be transparent and up front about the compensation. The offers for this role will be between $100,000 and $105,000 (plus an additional $5k cost of living adjustment if the individual hired is based of the Northern Virginia office)
Manage 2-person digital team to support day to day digital operations
Oversee big picture implementation of digital technologies at the legislative and organizing level that supports New Virginia’s theory of change
Work with Organizing, Political, Policy, and Communications and Hub organizations to proactively develop digital campaigns to amplify our narrative, deepen our working class community of color base, inspire action, and raise money
Produce digital assets that enhance digital campaigns and communications, including emails, digital media, petitions, click-to-advocate tools, social media graphics, videos, advertising, and more
Create and implement digital advertising campaigns to support base-building efforts in working class communities of color in Virginia
Implement consistent New Virginia Majority digital branding - including design, visuals, language, across the organization
Collaborate and coordinate with partner organizations on strategic digital campaigns to expand reach and impact, including digital toolkits, consulting, event support and more.
Work with endorsed candidates/campaigns to assist with communications and digital organizing
Maintain high quality and timely website presence. Ensure ease of navigation, message consistency, relevance and engagement opportunities for visitors, and amplification of relevant digital campaigns.
Build high-level demographic data sets and implement segmentation strategies to meet our digital communities where they are and move them to action
Other responsibilities:
Provide rapid response digital support
Create and manage a calendar for content creation related to specific campaigns in collaboration with regular social media work of the digital team
Manage and monitor acquisition of digital mass base during campaigns
Support tracking systems to move mass base along an engagement cycle
Consistently track and report campaign metrics & analysis
Support digital team goals as assigned
Possibility of supervisory duties
At least 2 years of digital and social media experience with political, advocacy and/or nonprofit organizations, and at least 3 years of experience managing direct reports (it’s OK if this management experience was not in digital).
Committed to New Virginia Majority’s mission of social, racial and economic justice.
Knowledge of digital technology and databases, including CRMs, social media and email advocacy platforms, graphics and production of digital materials and content (written, graphic, audio, and video)
Knowledge of organizing, issue advocacy campaigns, and/or political campaigns
Broad experience in managing social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
Skilled project management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines

In addition to the immense personal and professional satisfaction you’ll gain from helping to build power amongst working class communities of color in Virginia, the salary range for this position is $100,000-$105,000 (with an additional $5k cost of living adjustment if the hired individual is based out of the Northern Virginia office). Offer is commensurate with experience, and comes with an excellent benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and stipends for phone and transportation. NVM covers 100% of the cost for medical, dental, life and short-term disability insurance for our full-time employees and we provide transportation and cell phone allowances every month.
