Meadowlark Strategies is hiring a Digital Strategist to join our digital team for the 2024 election cycle. This position can be remote (pending location approval) or based in one of our physical office locations of Des Moines, IA, Kansas City, MO, Philadelphia, PA or Washington, DC. This is a seasonal position and will end on November 15, 2024.
Work on the internal team for several client accounts
Develop monthly content calendars and goals for clients
Help candidates and causes activate their base of supporters by writing engaging email content that contributes to advocacy and fundraising goals
Produce creative and innovative social media content
Draft compelling advertising copy for Google Search ads, Facebook ads, display ads, and more
Analyze metrics and report on program performance, best practices, and test results
Code (using basic HTML), produce, target and test email communications
Help elect Democrats and support progressive causes nationwide
Drafting Email Content (45%)
Participate in monthly client content calendar calls, contributing ideas to meet client's strategic goals
Research and draft emails based on outlines from Account Managers that align with client voice and that are free from grammatical errors
Propose creative angles for content and testing that will make programs stand out and increase engagement
Email Production (35%)
Code and load all client emails into CRMs (e.g. NGP/EveryAction, ActionNetwork)
Checklist emails to ensure all content that is sent is error-free
Target and send emails in a variety of CRM platforms
Digital Strategy (20%)
Take part in client calls and think creatively and proactively about how to add value to digital programming
Pull weekly toplines for overall program, individual email performance, fundraising, acquisition ROI, and testing results
Proactively look for creative applications of new digital tools, techniques, and channels for communicating with supporters and/or voters
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar and punctuation
Familiarity with online communication tools particularly mass email
Understanding of how to write for different audiences and in different voices
Ability to ensure consistency while adapting messages based on the platform and mode of communication
Project and time management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and comfort working remotely with a distributed team across different time zones, using tools such as Google Docs and Slack

Experience with any of the following CRMs: NGP, BSD, Action Network or ActionKit
Knowledge of basic HTML
At least one cycle of experience writing, managing, and executing email programs for political campaigns and/or progressive nonprofit organizations
Experience working with a political campaign or progressive organization
Familiarity with political and fundraising best practices
Ability to speak, read, and/or write in multiple languages, particularly Spanish
