**About LPAC**
LPAC’s mission is to elect LGBTQ women to public office at the federal, state, and local level. Since it was founded in 2012, LPAC has invested millions of dollars in building political strength for and with LGBTQ women. 

The 2022 election cycle was LPAC’s most ambitious since the committee was founded. LPAC endorsed and contributed to a record number of LGBTQ women candidates and carried out important research on the civic engagement of LGBTQ women. 

**Position Summary & Responsibilities**
The Director of Communications will contribute to LPAC’s mission by implementing a communications strategy to increase brand awareness of LPAC’s work supporting LGBTQ women candidates. The position can be remote, but if you'd like we have an office based in Washington, DC.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create and implement a marketing and communications plan to increase the LPAC brand and highlight the organization’s work.
- Evaluate LPAC’s outward facing profile (website, social media presence, email program, printed materials, etc.), recommend and implement improvements. 
- Assess organizational strengths (high-profile Board members, candidates, unique mission, etc.) and formulate a strategy to use those assets to their full potential.
- Establish and oversee media strategy to grow LPAC’s coverage in the press and increase awareness among key media influencers.
- Oversee social media channels and email programs.
- Work with the Executive Director, Director of Development, and Political Director to establish unified and consistent brand voice for the organization. 
- Source opportunities for staff leaders, Board Members, and key endorsed candidates to comment in the press, speak at relevant political events/conferences, etc.
- Write and distribute materials for national media, including press releases, op-eds, and memos.
- Maintain a Communications Department annual budget.

**Experience & Qualifications**
- A passion for LPAC’s mission 
- 4-5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, including online communications.
- Creative and innovative mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit material quickly and persuasively.
- Understanding of media and experience writing press releases, statements, op-eds, and pitching stories to reporters (existing relationships with journalists required).
- Time management and organization skills – an ability to coordinate, prioritize, and follow through on multiple projects.
- Ability to work after hours and on weekends as required – willingness to work in rapid response situations
- Willingness to work collaboratively on a small team.
- Savviness across media and communications platforms. 
- Proficient computer skills.

**Compensation**
Salary range for the Director of Communications is $95,000 – $110,000 annually commensurate with experience. LPAC offers benefits including fully paid health/vision/dental insurance, 401K, and generous paid time off.
