About the Role
Arc Initiatives is seeking an experienced Director of Field Operations to lead a high-volume paid canvassing program launching in February 2026. The Director of Field Operations will own delivery of agreed-upon field operations, including coordination with State Field Managers, Team Leads, and canvass staff, ensure program quality, and deliver strong voter contact outcomes against clear metrics. The ideal candidate is operationally sharp, calm under pressure, and deeply comfortable running fast-moving field programs.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Lead the multi-state field program, ensuring deadlines are met in all assigned states.
Own program performance, including productivity, quality benchmarks, and compliance outcomes, as defined in the scope of work.
Develop and manage timelines, workflows, and communication structures necessary to meet contracted deliverables.
Team Leadership
Coordinate with and provide operational direction to State Field Managers and their supervision of Team Leads and Canvassers, in alignment with program goals and client requirements.
Conduct briefings, debriefs, and performance feedback related to program delivery to ensure high-quality voter contact.
Coordinate with Arc administrative partners regarding recruitment and onboarding of canvassers in partnership with HR/administrative teams.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all canvassing activities comply with legal, compliance, and data-integrity standards.
Monitor real-time data and conduct spot checks to maintain accuracy and message discipline.
Quickly and professionally identify and escalate personnel issues, underperformance, and program deviations, recommending corrective actions.
Client + Stakeholder Communication
Provide regular updates (daily and/or weekly, as agreed) to internal and external stakeholders regarding program progress and risks.
Flag challenges early and propose solutions proactively.
Represent Arc Initiatives as an independent contractor engaged by Arc with professionalism and clarity in all client interactions.
Logistics & Operations
Coordinate equipment, materials, turf packets, and walk lists.
Coordinate with Arc operations teams regarding payroll inputs, timesheets, and canvasser documentation required for program reporting.
Support budget tracking and resource allocation by monitoring spend against program assumptions and flagging risks.
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in paid canvass programs or field operations at scale.
Demonstrated success managing teams in high-volume, metrics-driven environments.
Strong command of VAN, voter contact tools, and basic data analysis.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work long or irregular hours during peak program periods.
Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and mission-driven work.
Preferred
Experience specifically with signature collection, voter registration, or GOTV programs.
Familiarity with compliance practices (FEC, state regulations, payroll considerations).
Spanish fluency or other language skills are a plus.
Previous contractor experience or comfort with short-term engagements.

Type: Independent contractor, 1099 position
Duration: February 2026 through the end of the program (estimated 8–12 weeks), with potential extensions subject to mutual written agreement
Compensation: Competitive; $10,000 – $13,000 per month, commensurate with experience
