Elissa Slotkin for Michigan is seeking a Director of Political Affairs to lead U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin’s off-cycle political programming; conducting big-picture strategic planning as well as managing the day-to-day of the political operation.
This position may be based in Michigan or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Serving as Senator Slotkin’s primary point of contact regarding her portfolio of political projects, keeping the Senator updated and coordinating her engagement as necessary.
Setting the strategic vision and providing overwatch to key political programs.
Building a budget for the Senator’s political portfolio – encompassing the LPAC, re-elect, state party, and other entities the Senator may wish to support – and managing a team of consultants and staff to execute those finance and budget goals.
Managing the Senator’s relationships and support with her colleagues’ political operations, and regularly keeping candidates apprised of Sen. Slotkin’s financial support.
Developing and regularly conducting a strategic planning and scheduling process that aligns with the Senator’s overall goals and political priorities.
Overseeing additional programs and initiatives as determined by the Senator.
Qualifications:
This is not an entry-level position. Qualified applicants will have at least three cycles of experience in political campaigns, electoral and issue advocacy, or similar fields; with demonstrated experience leading a team within that context.
Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-million dollar budget.
Demonstrated ability to manage personnel, and to manage relationships and communicate effectively with elected officials and key stakeholders.
Self-starter who is team-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills and strict attention to detail.
Job Type: This position has some flexibility, and may range from part-time to full-time, based on further conversations with the applicant.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
