Distributed Organizing Manager will be paid a monthly salary of $6,000 per month, commensurate with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Distributed Organizing Manager for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.

 

Role Overview:

The Distributed Organizing Manager is responsible for ensuring successful execution of a scaled distributing organizing campaign, volunteer recruitment for a statewide field operation, organizing on socials, and managing remote volunteer teams. The ideal candidate has strong organizing skills, is tech-savvy, is knowledgeable of distributed and organizing systems, and has experience managing staff. This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.

 

Responsibilities:

● Design, build, and manage dynamic distributed volunteer teams that help mobilize voters across the state

● Help implement an all-encompassing, field-informed distributed organizing plan, leading absorption into volunteer teams with frequent team calls, reporting results and recognizing super volunteers

● Work with technology vendors to build and adapt technology that lowers the barriers to entry for remote volunteers and helps bridge the gap of distance

● Manage direct voter contact tools and control volunteer access to tools

● Work well with stakeholders, including vendors, who manage changing and competing priorities

● Set goals with the Organizing Director to ensure we meet our massive voter contact goals

● Help develop event specific toolkits, host materials, volunteer calls, recruitment collateral, etc. for distributed events

● Monitor, engage, and amplify volunteer activities across a specific set of social media platforms

● Provide regular (weekly/bi-weekly) reports to campaign leadership on progress vs. goals, challenges, adjustments

● Use data to drive continuous improvement: what tactics are working, which programs are underperforming, course corrections

● After major milestones (e.g. after early voting, after debate, after each field push), contribute to internal debriefs and document lessons learned

 

Qualifications (Required):

● Ability to translate strategy into concrete tactics; know when to shift tactics; strong judgment under pressure

● In depth understanding of distributed systems, structures, and best practices for onboarding remote volunteers to support on-the-ground organizing

● Highly proficient with ActionKit or equivalent CRMs and other relevant tools (mapping software, phone-bank/text platforms, etc.)

● Highly organized and able to manage multiple complex constituency relationship management systems

● Experience with Slack, Google Drive, Zoom, and various email, texting, calling, and event management platforms

● Experience with VAN and basic voter contact targeting strategies

● Digital native with strong intuition for viral content and tactfully engaging in relevant online conversations

● Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

● Exceptional interpersonal and leadership communication skills

● Must have transportation to attend events as needed

● Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive

● Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.

● Superior written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions

● Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail

● Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate

● Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways

● Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability

 

Qualifications (Preferred):

● Previous U.S. Senate campaign experience (or similar high-stakes/competitive federal campaign)

● Experience with VAN / Votebuilder or similar tools

● Fluency in any of the following languages besides English: Spanish, Arabic, Bangla, Chinese

● Experience directly managing/staffing a principal is a significant plus

● Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
