JOB DESCRIPTION

The Elect Katie Hobbs campaign is seeking a full-time Political Director to work with the campaign through the 2026 election cycle. The Political Director will lead the campaign’s political outreach efforts. This position is a unique opportunity to obtain significant experience, as well as build and deepen relationships with key players in Arizona, on a top-tier gubernatorial campaign.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the campaign’s two-year political plan with measurable metrics, strategic tactics, and deliverables to keep the program accountable

  • Serve as the campaign’s point of contact for elected officials, issue groups, labor unions, constituency groups, and other political organizations

  • Ensure stakeholders are continually updated on the campaign’s progress and successes while being utilized to further the campaign’s strategic goals

  • Manage the endorsement process, including identifying key endorsers for the campaign, building the rollout plan, and keeping them engaged throughout the campaign

  • Build and manage a statewide surrogate program

  • Pro-actively identify and build public-facing and private events, meetings, and roundtables for the principal

  • Hire and manage the political team, ensuring all regions and constituencies of the state are strongly represented

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Self-starter with multiple cycles of campaign experience

  • Experience managing staff, principals, and external partners

  • Deep interest in relationship-building and working across various constituencies in a culturally-competent way

  • Strong work ethic, creative thinking, and willingness to take ownership of wide-ranging responsibilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once, meet key deadlines, and work in fast-pacedenvironment

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

  • Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Roots in, connection to, and/or relationships in Arizona

  • Spanish language proficiency

  • Previous experience on a gubernatorial race or in state politics
