About Election Defenders
Election Defenders 2026 is a nonviolent, nonpartisan civic initiative of The Love Center (TLC) focused on voter protection, democratic preparedness, and community resilience. Based in Montgomery, AL, and operating across the South, Election Defenders supports local partners in protecting voters and responding to democratic threats with safety, dignity, and joy. The program works to strengthen the regional networks, local leaders, and community institutions that make free and fair participation in elections possible over time.
Position Summary
The Operations Manager will provide essential operational and administrative support across the Election Defenders 2026 program. This position is responsible for keeping the logistics, systems, and coordination infrastructure of Election Defenders 2026 running smoothly. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented operator who thrives in fast-moving environments, has strong written and verbal communication skills, can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, and understands that strong operations are the backbone of effective organizing campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, track, and manage MOUs for the Election Defenders partner network
Support the hiring and onboarding logistics for the Election Defenders trainer network
Coordinate convening logistics including venue and vendor sourcing, travel arrangements, scheduling, and day-of support
Attend and provide on-site coordination support for the Train the Trainers convening and partner convenings across target states
Support the production and logistics of The Well gatherings
Manage procurement, production, and shipping of branded apparel, materials, and program swag
Maintain accurate program records, tracking documents, and shared files across the team
Support the Deputy Director and program leads with scheduling, communications, and administrative coordination
Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of goods and services
Support partner onboarding logistics in coordination with the Partnerships Manager
Anticipate and address operational needs as they arise throughout the program period
Qualifications
Strong candidates will bring:
At least 3 years of experience in operations, program administration, project management, or related work
Demonstrated ability to manage logistics, vendor relationships, and administrative systems in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfort working virtually and independently with a distributed team
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
Commitment to racial, economic, and democratic justice
Experience supporting nonprofit, civic engagement, or movement-based organizations is strongly preferred
