JOB DESCRIPTION

About Blueprint NC

Blueprint NC is a progressive ecosystem of 86 formal partner 501(c)(3) organizations and an expanding web of network allies committed to building independent power for an anti-racist, inclusive democracy.

Position Overview

Blueprint NC seeks an experienced organizer, facilitator, and coalition-builder for the role of Election Protection Coordinator. This position will coordinate, support, facilitate and lead the statewide Blueprint NC Election Protection Table. The Table supports eight workgroups that are involved in county board of elections engagement, early voting advocacy, election administration, communications, poll presence, legal advocacy and more. The Election Protection coordinator will support these areas of work and operate both as a facilitator, but also a practitioner of the work alongside partners.

The Election Protection Coordinator reports to the Director of Mobilization and Election Protection, and will work closely with North Carolina’s leading democracy, voting rights, and election protection organizations.

For candidates that exceed the required skills and qualifications listed below, meet most or all the preferred skills and qualifications, we will also consider turning this role into a Senior Election Protection Coordinator.

The Ideal Candidate

You learn fast and value feedback. You operate with a service mindset -- working in service of the Blueprint NC partnership and the Election Protection Table; if the partnership and the table are successful, you are successful. You are a team player and eager to work with others to drive projects forward, both in a leadership capacity but also in a supporting role. You are curious and ask questions, looking for understanding and answers to complex issues and problems. You want to know how stuff works, in this case how North Carolina’s elections work; getting into the nitty gritty details of how the votes are counted and what could cause a voter to be turned away at the polls so you can protect their vote. When problems arise, you rise to the challenge and can navigate high-stress situations effectively. You value collaboration and are a team-player.

Responsibilities

  • **Coordinate partnership efforts: **Coordinate, support, and facilitate Blueprint NC’s Election Protection Table. Work alongside the 30+ participating partners and Blueprint NC leadership to lead the table.

  • Cultivate stakeholder relationships: Build and maintain relationships with all 30+ partner organizations at the table to be knowledgeable and informed of Election Protection work across the Blueprint NC partnership. Use this information to make recommendations and decisions on coalition priorities, meeting agendas, gaps, and opportunities.

  • Lead meeting facilitation: Develop agendas for Table Meetings and various other meetings through co-creation alongside various stakeholders. Co-creation will involve regular and ongoing communication with partner stakeholders, investment in those relationships, deference at the right moments, and a commitment the overall success of the team. With those agendas lead the facilitation of monthly Table Meetings and various other meetings in service to Blueprint NC partners’ election protection and election administration goals.

  • Support workgroup operations: Support the day-to-day work of the Election Protection Table’s eight active workgroups that are involved in county board of elections engagement, early voting advocacy, election administration, communications, poll presence, legal advocacy and more.

  • Engage in critical work: Play an active role in at least two of these workgroups made up of Blueprint NC partners, that often meet weekly, and move forward critical work.

  • The election protection coordinator will dig into various workgroups and be or become a practitioner themselves. Moving from simply coordinating the work, but to both coordinating the work but also doing the work themselves alongside partners.

  • Foster collaboration: Work closely with Blueprint NC partners at the Election Protection Table, looking for ways to support the work and individual partners, and jumping at the opportunity to fill gaps and take on responsibilities.

  • Manage table administration: Be responsible for the overall administration of the Election Protection Table and its 8 workgroups. Gather overall perspective and understanding of program from the leaders and members of the workgroups to identify successes, challenges, needs, and opportunities. As well as hold basic administrative tasks such as note taking, assigning note takers, and scheduling meetings.
