Opening: Executive Director
The Democratic Party of DuPage County (DPDC) is currently seeking applications for candidates for Executive Director of the organization.
Position Summary
DPDC's part-time Executive Director will lead the day to day activities of the organization with dedication to Democratic principles and a deep understanding and experience in organizing and managing political party engagement to build a strong base of volunteers, expand voter engagement and achieve positive results for Democratic candidates in DuPage County. The ideal candidate will have significant experience promoting Democratic values and as an experienced organizer.
Job Description
In partnership with the Chair, and as part of implementing programs and activities developed by the Executive Committee and DPDC Committees, the Executive Director will have the following responsibilities:
Serve as a lead to implement DPDC's strategic plan;
Work with the Chair and Finance Committee to manage the organization's finances, track income and expenditures and maintain records and accounts;
Keep an updated and working knowledge of campaign finance, election and compliance laws to ensure all DPDC activities are compliant;
Build infrastructure for political organizing and voter engagement;
Assist with the development, and manage the implementation, of messaging and communications;
Oversee events;
Manage staff and volunteers and handle the hiring and engagement of personnel at the direction of the Chair;
Monitor and in consultation with the Chair, address issues of importance to residents and candidates;
Assist with the expansion of membership and fundraising;
Lead DPDC's activities in elections, including overseeing electioneering activities and working with Democratic candidate campaigns;
Serve as a liaison to the townships, precinct committee persons and party committees;
Engage, build and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, affiliated organizations and political partners;
Serve as a spokesperson as appropriate
Additional responsibilities will be assigned by the Chair.
Expectations of the role also include:
Scheduling and attending DPDC internal meetings and monthly township meetings (sharing township meeting attendance in coordination with the Chair and Vice Chair)
In coordination with the Chair, obtaining information and materials from DPDC Committees to implement the strategic plan and assisting with tracking and scheduling for Executive Committee meetings
Regularly working from the DPDC office
Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years electoral political experience
Proven track record of serving as a senior staff member in a large scale political or non-profit organization
Project management skills, including planning and tracking projects and adjusting resources
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Outstanding people-management skills
Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
Ability to manage several tasks and projects at the same time
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Detail oriented and good follow through on tasks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff and stakeholders
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Expert knowledge of Votebuilder, NGP-VAN and ActBlue
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva and social media platforms
Significant experience in Illinois Democratic politics
Resident in DuPage County (or becoming resident within 1 month of beginning work)
Applicants must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license because the Executive Director will be required to attend meetings across DuPage County. Evening and weekend work are part of this job.
The target employment start date is June 1, 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 3 years executive experience working on a coordinated campaign, statewide or congressional political campaign or with a state Democratic political party
Significant knowledge of DuPage County politics
Compensation
This is a part-time role (25 hours minimum) with a salary of $35,000/ year.
