Are you passionate about ensuring every voice is heard in Michigan? Do you believe in the power of

grassroots engagement to drive change? Join our team as a Field Canvasser and play a crucial role in

mobilizing Latinx voters across Detroit, Flint, Pontiac, and Grand Rapids.

Our families came to Michigan from all over Mexico and Latin America. They sacrificed everything so we

could live the American dream, generations of seeking a better future. We know what we deserve:

access to health care, education, and protection of our right to vote. Let’s celebrate our collective

resilience by advocating for the future we see possible, the one we want to build for ourselves.

Who We Are

MI Poder is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, social welfare and civic engagement organization serving the Latinx

population in Michigan. Our purpose is to strengthen the Michigan Latinx voice and leadership capacity

to mobilize our constituents and increase participation in the democratic process. We develop and

advocate for legislation, regulations, and government programs to improve the Michigan Latinx

community’s opportunities, growth, and investment.

What We Need

Mi Poder is seeking multiple Field Canvassers to engage Latinx voters in face-to-face and phone

conversations about current community issues, upcoming elections, voter registration, and absentee

voting. Canvassers will be instrumental in helping mobilize Michigan Latinx residents to vote in August

and November. We are looking to fill these positions immediately and will be accepting applications on a

impacting the Michigan Latinx communities, build power, and engage people in organizing

efforts.

● Meet daily, weekly, and monthly voter engagement goals and metrics designed to build power

and mobilize Michigan Latinx voters.

● Increase community recognition of MI Poder by building genuine relationships with people in

the community.

● Identify potential volunteers at doors who are interested in supporting the Latinx community.

● Manage the entry, accuracy, and integrity of daily data in MiniVAN.

● Contribute to other organizational initiatives as appropriate, including cross-functional issues

and projects.

● Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

meaningful conversations with community members fostering open communication with

unfamiliar audiences like volunteers.

● An understanding of community mobilization efforts and how to navigate those efforts with

clear, achievable plans of action. At least 1 cycle of experience working in a competitive field

program, electoral campaigns, progressive politics, or advocacy preferred.

● Experience with or willingness to learn voter engagement software programs like America

Votes/MiniVan.
