Field Director, Cuomo for NYC

North Shore Strategies – New York City

Compensation: $5,400 - $5,800 per month, commensurate with experience

Classification: Exempt

Start Date / End Date: 09/25/2025 - 11/04/2025

Reports To: Lead Account Manager

 

About the Role

Cuomo for NYC is seeking a dynamic and strategic Field Director to lead engagement with community, issue-based, and identity-based constituencies across New York City. The ideal candidate is an experienced political professional with strong relationships, cultural competency, and a proven ability to build trust and mobilize support. This role is central to ensuring the campaign authentically connects with diverse voices and drives coalition momentum.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, grassroots organizations, advocacy groups, faith leaders, labor partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and execute constituency-specific outreach strategies aligned with campaign goals.

  • Organize events, roundtables, and listening sessions to elevate community priorities.

  • Serve as liaison between the campaign and local leaders, ensuring responsiveness and long-term trust.

  • Support earned media and surrogate engagement within targeted communities.

  • Coordinate with Field and Communications teams to align organizing, messaging, and visibility.

  • Recruit, train, and manage canvassers/organizers to meet voter contact and persuasion goals.

  • Oversee daily field operations, including turf assignments, shift scheduling, and performance monitoring.

  • Track outreach and field metrics, maintaining accurate records through reporting tools.

  • Provide strategic input on community issues and opportunities to senior staff.

  • Ensure staff professionalism, message discipline, and adherence to campaign guidelines.

  • Foster a positive team culture grounded in accountability, equity, and shared goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • 3–5 years of experience in political campaigns, community organizing, or advocacy, with at least 1–2 years managing staff or volunteers.

  • Established relationships with NYC community leaders, advocacy organizations, or constituency groups.

  • Proven ability to build credibility and mobilize diverse communities.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills, with cultural competency across diverse communities.

  • Familiarity with voter contact tools (VAN, MiniVAN, Reach) and data-driven field practices.

  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evenings and weekends required.

  • Sound political judgment and discretion when handling sensitive issues.
