Job Summary:
Sean McCann for Congress seeks a Field Director to design, manage, and execute the field program in Michigan’s 4th Congressional District in Southwest Michigan. The Field Director will work with the candidate and campaign manager to win this seat and help take back the House. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative approach to problem-solving, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders, organizers, and volunteers. The Field Director will be responsible for ** a robust field plan along with advising a battleground candidate and their campaign team on voter contact efforts.**
This role reports directly to the Campaign Manager and is based in Kalamazoo, MI.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for all organizing activities for the candidate, staff, and volunteers, including but not limited to hiring, training, supervising, creating, and meeting metric goals and accountability measures for the campaign
Work with partners to coordinate field efforts
Oversee the planning of all field strategy including direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, events, relational organizing, and community organizing
Provide strategic advice and guidance to ensure effectiveness and quality control of district-wide programs
Represent the Candidate and campaign in external community events as required and maintains relationships with community organizations, elected officials, and labor groups
Assist Campaign Manager with other responsibilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience working for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, or firm in an organizing capacity
Previous staff management experience preferred
Strong data, targeting, and voter file experience
Proficiency in VAN and Google Suite
Strong time management, verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills and the ability to work well and remain calm under pressure
Excitement to create and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and campaign staff
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to goals
A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and take a solutions-oriented approach to unique problems
Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and an ability to demonstrate multicultural competence
Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders
Access to a smartphone, laptop, and reliable transportation
Willingness to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends (as needed)
Willingness to move to district and travel throughout district, as needed
Commitment to winning and retaking a Democratic majority in Congress
Ties to Michigan and/or the district are welcomed, but not required
