Role: Field Director
Salary: $3,500/month
Start Date: May 1, 2026
Ed Hermes is a community activist, progressive leader, and the leading candidate for Phoenix City Council in district 4. Ed’s campaign is looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for progressive politics to join his team as Field Director. This position is through Election Day in November and could extend to a potential run-off in mid-March 2027.
The Field Director is responsible for ensuring the campaign’s message is effectively shared through direct voter contact. They will manage and motivate campaign volunteers as they persuade voters to pledge support. The ideal candidate has previous experience in leadership roles on political campaigns, managing staff and volunteers, and is highly organized and communicative.
Responsibilities:
Implement and manage comprehensive Field program as outlined in the Campaign Plan
Manage VAN, create lists, cut turf, and prepare materials for canvassing
Volunteer management: Develop and oversee volunteer program by recruiting, scheduling and motivating volunteers
Manage canvasses and other voter outreach events
Ensure timely data entry and accuracy
Produce regular field reports
Work in close collaboration with campaign staff
Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
Previous field experience on a political campaign
Self-starter who is willing to work irregular hours in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
A person who is highly organized, detail oriented, competitive, and results-driven
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience managing volunteers
Fluent and skilled in VAN
Based in the Phoenix area
