Role Overview
Field Directors will serve as the public face of the campaign in their assigned district, and will work with the campaign manager and the caucus Democratic organizing director to execute a voter outreach program. This will include (but is not limited to) voter ID, door-to-door canvassing, volunteer recruitment, volunteer training, and relational organizing. Field Directors
should be self-motivated, solutions-oriented, and passionate about reaching out to the community. No prior campaign experience is necessary to apply for or serve in this role, though candidates with demonstrated experience in politics, organizing, or issue advocacy will receive priority consideration.
Role Responsibilities
Participate in direct voter contact, such as canvassing and phone/text banking
Working with Senate Democratic Caucus leadership and district campaign staff to develop and execute an effective field plan
Recruiting, training, and managing Field Organizers to meet voter contact and capacity building goals within assigned district
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
Organize volunteer events
Meet weekly and monthly goals and program benchmarks as defined by NCSDC
Organizing Director
Assist in office management for campaign
Required Skills & Qualifications
You are at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the USA
You are comfortable knocking doors and talking to voters
Comfortable walking long distances
You have a Gmail account and are proficient with Google Suite products
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
Flexible, adaptable, team player with a solutions-oriented mindset
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Access to a smartphone and laptop
Access to a vehicle, as well as a valid driver’s license
Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends closer to the election
This is a part time position no more than 20 hours per week with the James Mercer Campaign, beginning in August and is expected to conclude on November 8th, 2024. Field Directors will be paid $25 hourly. This role will be based in person in North Carolina Senate District 11, which includes Rocky Mount, Nashville, Louisberg, Henderson, and more rural parts of Eastern North Carolina, and the ability to work remotely will not be available. This will include a significant amount of driving.
