Queen for Queens – New York State Assembly, District 32
Queen Johnson’s campaign for State Assembly in AD-32 is seeking an experienced and disciplined Field Director to build and execute a high-performing voter contact program in Southeast Queens.
This is a competitive Democratic primary in a district where turnout, density, and field execution will determine the outcome. The Field Director will be responsible for building a structured, data-driven operation capable of maximizing support in key Election Districts, turning out base voters, and expanding the electorate through relational and volunteer-driven organizing.
This role is central to winning the race.
Design and implement a comprehensive field plan rooted in ED-level targeting and turnout modeling
Identify priority universes (base, persuasion, low-propensity Democrats)
Develop clear weekly voter contact and signature collection goals
Lead and manage the campaign’s petition operation
Recruit and train volunteer petition carriers
Ensure signature collection exceeds required thresholds with geographic distribution strategy
Track petition metrics daily and manage quality control
Build a volunteer program from the ground up
Recruit, train, and manage canvassers, phone bankers, and interns
Create leadership ladders (captains, zone leads, building captains where applicable)
Maintain strong morale and accountability within the team
Oversee door-to-door canvassing in high-density areas such as Rochdale Village and other key AD-32 zones
Manage phone banking and text programs
Implement relational organizing strategies
Set and track weekly goals for conversations, IDs, and follow-ups
Manage VAN/Votebuilder operations including turf cutting, list pulls, and data entry oversight
Ensure data accuracy and reporting consistency
Produce regular field reports with metrics and projections
Coordinate with the Campaign Manager and candidate to align targeting and messaging
Support outreach to local clubs, tenant leaders, block associations, and community organizations
Identify opportunities for coalition-based turnout
Build and execute a robust early vote strategy
Develop GOTV universe and chase programs
Manage poll site operations and volunteer deployment for Election Day
At least one full campaign cycle in a field leadership or senior organizing role preferred
Strong understanding of Democratic primary turnout strategy
Experience with VAN/Votebuilder and data-driven organizing
Ability to manage volunteers in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Clear communication skills and strong operational discipline
Familiarity with Southeast Queens politics and high-density voter operations strongly preferred
