Field Director For Portland Mayoral Candidate: Start date is ASAP
Carmen Rubio’s campaign for Portland Mayor is seeking a Field Director. This position will report to the Campaign Manager and will oversee all Field Operations. A strong candidate will have the skills and knowledge to develop and execute a comprehensive field program aimed at getting out the votes necessary for a successful campaign in the November 2024 general election. This is a cycle position.
The preferred candidate will have the soft skills to complement their technical know how, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders, organizers and volunteers.
About the Campaign:
Portland City Commissioner Carmen Rubio is running for Portland Mayor. She currently serves on the Portland City Council, having been elected in 2020. In her service on the Council, she oversees several City Bureaus, including Housing, Planning and Sustainability, Development Services, and Prosper Portland.
As a progressive, Commissioner Rubio is deeply committed to addressing our city's urgent challenges. Her top priorities include ending unsheltered homelessness by increasing temporary and permanent supportive housing and working with the state and county to expand access to comprehensive addiction and mental health treatments.
Additionally, her administration will aggressively push for more affordable housing at all income levels and champion sustainable development initiatives to ensure Portland leads as a climate and equity trailblazer. Her vision is to build a more inclusive, safe, equitable, just and sustainable Portland for everyone.
She will enhance public safety with a strong emphasis on community policing and accountability and by recruiting the well-trained officers Portland needs that reflect the diversity of our city, expanding the use of unarmed public safety support specialists and improving and stabilizing Portland Street Response.

Responsibilities include:
• Design and implement field plan, including direct voter contact
• Recruit, train, and manage field volunteers
• Regular reports to Campaign Manager
• Coordinate with field staff of other campaigns
• Coordinate with unions and other stakeholders
Required Skills and Experience:
• Basic understanding of targeting and organizing metrics
• Solid training skills
• One cycle of field/organizing experience or comparable political or advocacy experience
• Proficiency in VAN, G Suite
• Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers
• Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
• A personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability
• Reliable transportation is required for frequent travel throughout the City • Knowledge of the Portland area is preferred
