Job Description: Abraham Aiyash for State Senate is seeking part-time field fellows to assist
the candidate and campaign team with direct voter contact to connect with the community,
including knocking doors and occasionally making phone calls and writing postcards.
The Field Fellow will:
● Knock doors (canvass) and speak to voters.
● Train volunteers and canvass with them.
● During inclement weather, fellows will conduct direct voter contact by making phone
calls, writing postcards, and assisting with other field-related tasks.
● Conduct community outreach on behalf of the candidate and campaign, including
making phone calls, sending texts and emails, and meeting community members.
● Build volunteer capacity and team momentum; have a constant eye for opportunities
to gain support.
● Attend campaign events, such as fundraisers, community meet-n-greets, parades, and
listening tour stops, to help set up/clean up and staff.
The ideal Field Fellow will also:
- Feel comfortable talking to new people
- Ensure deadlines and goals are met
- Problem solve quickly
- Feels confident in their ability to build capacity with voters and volunteers
- Have a deep understanding of the path to victory and can easily communicate this to
supporters
- Have an ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as necessary
Desired Qualifications:
● Integrity, dedication, creativity and strong willingness to collaborate and learn
● Knowledge and experience with Google Drive, Google Workspace and Slack is
required. Experience with VoteBuilder and MiniVAN is a plus.
● Very strong interpersonal skills
● Excellent organizational skills
● Willing to travel throughout Detroit and Downriver
The Field Fellow is instrumental in ensuring the campaign is engaging with the community,
persuading voters, and educating voters about their voting options. The Field Fellow reports to
the Campaign Manager.
