JOB DESCRIPTION

Join the campaign to elect Dr. Mark Downey, a pediatrician and Democratic candidate running in one of Virginia’s most competitive battleground districts—HD-69. With control of the Virginia House of Delegates on the line, this race could be decided by fewer than 500 votes. As a Field Organizing Fellow, you’ll gain hands-on experience in grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and movement-building, while helping to power a people-first campaign. Fellows will work closely with the Virginia Democratic Coordinated Campaign—supporting top-ticket races like Abigail Spanberger for Governor, Ghazala Hashmi for Lt. Governor, and Jay Jones for Attorney General—ensuring an integrated, high-impact organizing effort up and down the ballot.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-energy environment focused on canvassing, phone banking, event staffing, and volunteer recruitment, with opportunities for mentorship and professional growth. Roles are available in both paid (15–20 hrs/week) and unpaid (min. 5 hrs/week) formats, with hybrid/remote options. No prior experience is required—just a passion for progressive change. Be part of a team fighting for a healthier, more equitable Virginia. To apply, email your resume and a brief cover letter to lucas@downeyforva.com.
