Core Responsibilities
Voter Contact and Canvassing
Execute canvass shifts across an assigned geographic area, knocking doors and making phone contact with voters
Meet weekly voter contact, ID, and persuasion goals as set by the Field Director
Adapt contact strategy based on voter universe characteristics, including door, phone, and text contact as appropriate
Enter all contact data into VAN same-day with accurate survey coding and complete disposition tracking
Conduct voter persuasion conversations and deliver candidate messaging clearly and effectively at the door and on the phone
Volunteer Recruitment and Management
Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers within your assigned area
Lead volunteer canvass shifts, phone banks, and other field activities on a regular weekly schedule
Maintain volunteer retention through consistent communication, clear expectations, and organized shift structure
Identify and develop high-capacity volunteers for leadership responsibilities within your team
Track and report volunteer hours and activity to the Field Director on a weekly basis
Early Vote and Ballot Return
Track mail ballot and early vote activity for identified supporters using VAN and campaign tracking tools
Conduct targeted ballot chase outreach to supporters who have not yet returned their ballots
Staff ballot drop-box visibility and voter assistance locations as assigned during the final weeks of the campaign
Execute Election Day field operations within your assigned area from poll open through close
Visibility and Community Presence
Coordinate visibility efforts within your assigned area
Build relationships with community members, neighborhood organizations, and local leaders to expand campaign presence
Represent the campaign professionally at community events, tabling opportunities, and candidate appearances as needed
Serve as a consistent, trusted presence in your neighborhood on behalf of Congresswoman DeGette
Reporting and Accountability
Participate in daily and weekly check-ins with the Field Director and campaign team
Submit accurate field reports, VAN data, and volunteer activity summaries on schedule
Flag operational issues, resource gaps, and voter feedback to the Field Director promptly
Manage campaign materials, sign inventory, and field supplies within assigned budget and reimbursement guidelines
Qualifications
Required
Strong interpersonal skills and genuine comfort talking with voters at the door and on the phone
Ability to self-manage, hit deadlines independently, and perform in a fast-moving campaign environment
Reliable transportation and willingness to drive within an assigned area on a daily basis
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred
Prior experience in political field organizing, community organizing, or a comparable voter or constituent contact role
Familiarity with VAN (Voter Activation Network) or demonstrated ability to learn data tools quickly
Experience managing or mentoring volunteers in a campaign or advocacy setting
Familiarity with Denver neighborhoods and the local Democratic political landscape
Bilingual Spanish/English; candidates with Spanish fluency are strongly encouraged to apply
Prior experience in a competitive Democratic primary
Experience with SMS and peer-to-peer texting platforms
What to Expect
This is a high-accountability role. You will have clear weekly goals, regular check-ins with the Field Director, and defined metrics your performance will be evaluated against.
The work is predominantly outdoor and physical. Canvassing in Denver from spring through late June means significant walking in variable weather
The final stretch of the campaign shifts entirely to ballot return and voter mobilization. Expect an accelerated pace, longer hours, and a rapid operational tempo.
