JOB DESCRIPTION

The Hertel for Michigan campaign is seeking experienced Field Organizers to organize communities and volunteers across Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building out the field program needed to elect Curtis and keep MI-07 blue come November 5th, 2024. 

This position will report to the Field Director and is based in Lansing, Michigan. 

Responsibilities 

  • Build out and train a large-scale volunteer operation that will engage with targeted voters via voter outreach, voter registration, and volunteer recruitment/retention.

  • Cultivate a strong partnership and work culture with local Democratic supporters and volunteers in your assigned region.

  • Implement a number of proven grassroots organizing tactics to help us hit our daily and weekly goals including door-to-door canvassing, phone banks, texts, meet & greets, high traffic canvassing, and tabling.

  • Lead an efficient GOTV operation that turns out supporters and ensures their ballot is casted in the final weeks of the election.

  • Submit weekly reports to the Field Director with any necessary metrics, and maintain data integrity for the program.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Field Director.

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Previous campaign experience as staff or volunteer preferred but not required.

  • Willingness to work in the Lansing field office and in the community you are assigned.

  • Commitment to electing Curtis and keeping this seat blue.

  • Flexible, adaptable and solutions-oriented.

  • Must have access to a cell phone, vehicle and ability to relocate if necessary.

 

Salary & Benefits 

This is an hourly position starting at $17.34 per hour. Organizers will start out with a 55 hour work week with hours expected to increase at the start of general election early voting. This is a Union-eligible position. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
