Summary of Position:
The Bexar County Democrats PAC (BCDP) is seeking a Field Organizer to join our team. This is a full-time position reporting to the Organizing Director. This role will be a key part of our organizing program, working to execute a successful volunteer voter contact and turnout program. The organizer will be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers to carry out voter contact and, in turn, help BCDP reach enough voters to make an impact in the 2024 general election.
This is a field organizer position, so the majority of the work will be direct voter contact and working with volunteers. The day-to-day work in this role will include making phone calls to volunteers, leading voter contact trainings, and knocking on doors. The ideal candidate has previous organizing experience in Texas, strong time management and writing skills, an ability to meet tight deadlines with little oversight from management, an eagerness to learn, and a commitment to turning out voters in Bexar County. Other important skills are attention to detail, providing quality training, being a team player, and an ability to work closely with senior management and political stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct voter contact, including block walking, phone banking, and texting voters
Recruitment of volunteers over the phone
Train and manage volunteers to participate in direct voter contact
Develop and retain relationships with partner organizations and volunteers
Run additional volunteer recruitment efforts using tools like Spoke and email
Draft training materials for volunteers and partner organizations
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Google Suite tools
Must be located in San Antonio or willing to relocate to the area
Ability to hold oneself accountable with minimal management and deliver projects on strict deadlines
Willing to work on projects individually and as a member of a team of people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Must have a desire to learn about organizing and Texas politics, and be flexible and willing to try new things to solve problems
Must have access to a vehicle or other reliable transportation
Willingness to work during evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred, but not required:
At least one cycle of organizing experience in Texas
Proficiency in organizing tools like Spoke and Slack, and a good understanding of the organizing tech landscape (canvassing tools, autodialers, texting platforms, etc.)
Fluent in Spanish
