JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

 

A life-long Lower East Side resident and community leader, Wei-Li Tjong is running to be Assembly Member for New York’s 65th District (AD65). The Wei-Li for NY campaign is looking for full-time Field Organizers to organize in AD65 - an area including Manhattan Chinatown, the Lower East Side, Two Bridges, and part of the Financial District. Field Organizers will coordinate and recruit volunteers, fellows, members of the community and endorsing organizations to contact voters on the campaign’s behalf.

 

This is a full-time, in-person job based in the district. Field Organizers will report to the Field Director and run through the June 23rd primary election.

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for phone banking and canvassing events.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local elected officials, candidates, volunteers, and partner organizations. 

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteer leaders who will organize their own communities for the campaign. 

  • Provide daily/weekly reports of voter contact and volunteer recruitment data to the Field Director.

  • Canvass and knock doors in the community as needed.

  • Work with the Campaign Manager, and other staff as needed to implement organizational goals across the district.

  • Must always bring a positive attitude and be calm under pressure.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Prior organizing experience preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship). Experience in the district is strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Ability to work long and unusual hours (some weekends and nights, especially leading up to the election).

  • Detail orientated and comfortable to work in a fast paced environment.

  • High comfort with Zoom, Google Workspace, and other digital productivity tools.

  • Access to a personal phone and laptop.

  • A background in VoteBuilder and MiniVan is preferred.

  • Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish is strongly preferred.
